The North Carolina Music Hall of Fame (@ncmhof_museum) has announced its 2025 class of inductees, and among the honorees is Kinston’s Clyde Mattocks, a legendary pedal steel guitarist known for his contributions to country and bluegrass music. Mattocks, often referred to as "The Man of Steel," is a founding member of The Super Grit Cowboy Band and has been a mentor to countless other musicians. A master of seemingly every stringed instrument he touches, he’s worked with a who’s who of country royalty: Bill Anderson, Loretta Lynn, Hank Thompson, Vern Gosden, and Jim Ed Brown, Skeeter Davis, The Country Gentlemen, and many other Grand Ole Opry acts. The induction ceremony will take place on October 16, 2025, at the Mooresville Performing Arts Center in Mooresville, North Carolina. The event will be open to the public and will feature live performances by the inductees. Mattocks joins the NC Music Hall of Fame with country superstar Luke Combs, singer-songwriter David Childers, radio personality Hattie “Chatty Hatty” Leeper, music executive Robert Deaton, and rockabilly musician Dexter Romweber.
